Rena Wakama has been named the head coach of the D’Tigress FC by the Nigeria Basketball Federation.
Since Otis Hughley’s resignation from his position as coach in 2022, the five-time African champions have been without a head coach.
Wakama, a native of Rivers State, agreed to a two-year deal.
The former player for the United States’ national team has decided to leave her position as an assistant coach at Stony Brook University.
In the UK, she was a professional basketball player.
Wakama previously had a position at Western Carolina University.
