This year’s Brit Awards, which took place at London’s 02 Arena on Saturday night, continued Nigeria’s losing streak at the UK’s most prestigious music awards ceremony. The trio of Burna Boy, Asake, and Rema were unable to secure an accolade.

U.S. superstar SZA beat out Burna Boy and Asake for the title of Best International Act of the Year.

The Best International Song of the Year award went to Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” rather than Rema’s “Calm Down.”

‘Calm Down,’ Rema’s smash hit, was performed with tremendous energy as the event came to a conclusion, despite the defeat.

Following 2019’s Burna Boy, he became the second African musician to play at the BRITs.

The artist with the most BRIT Awards in a single year is Raye, who has now extended her record.

Best R&B Act, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and Songwriter of the Year were among her six accolades from last night.
