Serie A: Osimhen reveals that leaving Napoli would bring him to tears

Victor Osimhen has stated publicly that he will likely “cry” upon leaving Napoli, the defending Serie A winners.

Even though his final destination is a mystery, the Nigerian international is widely believed to be leaving the Partenopei this summer.

Last December, Osimhen signed a contract that included a release clause worth roughly €120 million.

After being instrumental in Napoli’s Scudetto triumph last season, the striker has already become something of a cult icon among the club’s fan base.

Napoli won their first league title in over 30 years thanks to the 25-year-old’s 26 goals in 32 league outings.

Osimhen has stated that it will be difficult to leave Napoli, whose supporters he has compared to the finest in the world.

In some clubs, the past is what gives them their identity; in Naples, though, the supporters are the ones who really make a difference. It’s an incredible feeling, for sure.

“The way they support the team and each player is truly incredible,” he stated in an interview with Betsson Sport.

“Playing in the stadium and hearing your name shouted from the first minute to the 90th, supporting the team and cheering, is an extraordinary emotion. Sometimes I understand why some legends of the past cried when they left Naples.”
