Hundreds of pensioners are jubilant after being paid their monthly entitlement by the new administration of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) at a time when Kano State has suspended the payments of the monthly wages of 10,000 workers employed by the previous administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The pensioners encouraged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to keep up the pace and make sure that their accrued gratuity is paid. They were delighted by the fast payment of their monthly stipend.
They had never had it so well, according to Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, head of the Kano State Pensioners Forum.

“The commendation is necessary,” he said, “as members received their pension benefits before the month ended without a single kobo deduction from their pension as was the customary.”
He also urged the government of Kano State to resume paying gratuities and death benefits to public employees who passed away before, during, or after eight years of service.
