NEWS JUST IN! Ora-Igbomina Chief’s Kidnapping and Murder Confirmed by Osun State Police

The kidnapping and murder of Chief Oladepo Asaolu, the Babaloja of Ora-Igbomina, Oke-Ila Local Government Area, have been reported by the Osun State Police command.

According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Yemisi Opalola, on Sunday in Osogbo, Oladepo Olasunkanmi reported Chief Asaolu’s kidnapping at the Oke-Ila Police Division at around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022.

In accordance with the assertion,

“At approximately 2230 hours on May 10, 2022, one Oladepo Olasunkanmi ‘M’ of Kereja Area Ora-Igbomina under the Oke-Ika Police Division reported that his father Chief Oladepo Asaolu left his home in Kereja Ora-Igbomina with an unknown commercial motorcyclist and has not yet returned after four (4) days.

Together with Sunday Johnson (a motorcycle rider), the suspect, the DPO led a team of police officers and some vigilante men in search of the victim in the Akisa forest Ora-Igbomina, where the victim had a farm, to where the deceased was discovered already decomposing.

According to the statement, Sunday Johnson’s arrest resulted in the arrest of three additional suspects who had already admitted to taking part in the victim’s kidnapping and murder.

Opalola said that plans were being made to bring Chief Asaolu’s decaying remains to the closest morgue while announcing that the case had been given to the State Criminal Inquiry Department (SCID) for investigation.
