ASUU Strike: UNIPORT Resumption and Marathon Exams

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has stated that its eight-month-long strike has been called off, and classes have started at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).

This was revealed in a circular received exclusively by CAMPUS GIST on Friday, headlined “Approved Revised Academic Calendar for 2020/2021 session and 2021/2022 session full time.”

According to the circular obtained by CAMPUS GIST, all year one ‘B’ students for the 2021/2022 session were asked to restart on October 16th, while first semester exams begin on October 24th to 29th, 2022.

But only after a one-week revision, which will take place from October 17th to October 21st, 2022.

The Senate will meet on November 30th to discuss the semester outcomes.

For the 2020/2021 session, second semester, all returning students must arrive on October 30, 2022, with lectures beginning on October 31st and ending on December 22nd, 2022. (eight weeks).

The institution will be closed from the 23rd of December to the 2nd of January, only to reopen on the 3rd of January, 2023 for one week of review before the start of the semester exams.
