Enugu State Electricity Bill, among others, was passed by the State House of Assembly, which Chief Aloysius Chidozie Ogbonna Jnr., traditional ruler-elect of Ogugu Ntu-egbenese Ancient Kingdom in Awgu Local Government Area, Enugu State, praised.
The Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC) was established as a result of the bill that was passed into law.
The result of this was an announcement by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) that regulatory supervision would be transferred to the EERC.NERC has transferred regulatory oversight of the Enugu electricity market to EERC, according to a report in the Daily Post of April 22, 2024.
Chief Ogbonna praised the smooth political leadership in the state as a result of the amicable cooperation between the executive and the legislature during a courtesy call on the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Uche Ugwu, at the State House of Assembly complex on Tuesday.
He said the 8th Assembly of Enugu has been extremely aggressive in passing legislation that would make the state a top performer in Africa.
He stated that the recently passed and signed Enugu State Electricity Bill, the New Enugu City Development Agency Bill, the Enugu State Geographical Information System Service Bill, and the Enugu State Independence Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) Amendment Bill were all intended to introduce revolutionary breakthroughs to the state.

“You have managed the affairs in such a way that universities all over the globe should be encouraged to come and study here, even if the state parliament is full with members from both major parties.
Thanks to your vision and leadership, the Enugu State House of Assembly has been widely recognized as the most effective since the present political regime came into power.
A number of legislation have been passed by you in less than a year, including those pertaining to the New Enugu City Development Agency, the Enugu State Electricity Law, the Enugu State Geographical Information System Service, and the Enugu State Independence Electoral Commission (ENSIC) Amendment Law.
Despite having representatives from two opposing political factions, the Enugu State House of Assembly was among the first in the nation to adopt the 2024 Appropriation Bill into law without a hitch.
It is an honor to be here today to express my gratitude for the serene and productive session of the House that you have presided over.
Additionally, he mentioned that the residents of Ogugu Ntu-egbenese Ancient Kingdom in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State were grateful to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for providing the necessary assistance in resolving their leadership dilemma, which had persisted for 24 years and led to his reappointment.
Ugwu, the speaker, expressed his gratitude to Chief Ogbonna for the compliments, saying that they lifted the spirits of him and his colleagues.
Under his leadership, the Enugu State House of Assembly was always prepared to back initiatives that would improve the state, he said.
Chief Ogbonna has been elected traditional ruler-elect of his village, and Ugwu commended him and the entire community for ending the leadership dilemma.
With this visit and all the compliments, I am overjoyed.
An encouragement to go up and accomplish more, this is sure to lift spirits.
Despite our political differences, we have all committed to working together since this Assembly’s inception to improve Enugu State.
What we have accomplished thus far is a blessing from God, and we are grateful to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his cooperation.
Like a football team, we value each individual’s contributions and strive to achieve our goals as a unit.
All of our efforts are dependent on one another, and we can accomplish more if we work together.
As a leader, I am fortunate to have access to some of the brightest minds in the nation on my team. When you have individuals like that on your side, you can be assured that you will accomplish great things.
To strengthen our state through legislation, we are willing to work with established institutions, religious groups, businesses, etc., to develop a plan.
“Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s Enugu State will soon be a reference point for everyone; we’re committed to making it an envy of Africa,” he said.
