Doren Hospital Lagos, the healthcare facility where Rico Swavey was sent after being involved in an accident, has provided a comprehensive account of what they allege happened after he was brought in.
The hospital has faced widespread criticism on social media for how its nurses reportedly treated the reality TV star after he was admitted to the facility.
This comes after a video appeared online showing nurses debating how to transfer Rico to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit while he was struggling for his life.
In the video, some people who appeared to be “healthcare attendants” were heard giggling in the background and filming the injured reality show star.
The video aroused uproar online, with netizens criticizing the hospital for their callous treatment of Rico Swavey.
In response to the complaints, Doren Hospital has issued an official statement outlining what they claim happened.
They stated Rico Swavey was brought in around 1 a.m. by a good Samaritan, deeply asleep, smelling of alcohol, and bleeding from his ear, nose, and mouth, indicating internal hemorrhage.
They promptly gave him oxygen, regulated his blood pressure, and gave him a drip before referring him to another hospital.
Doren Hospital stated that they attempted to call Rico’s family to alert them of his situation and were able to reach a woman who raced down to the hospital.
Doren Hospital reported in the viral video that the nurses told the good Samaritan to help transfer Rico to the ambulance, but he was too busy making a video to exonerate himself in case anything happened to Rico Swavey.
Unfortunately, the Big Brother Naija star, who was only 29 years old, died two days later.
