Following last week’s tragic shooting death of Emmanuel Okocha, a native of Amanta and a resident of Abia State, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has sent his condolences.

He ordered Kene Onwuemelie, the commissioner of police in Abia state, to conduct a thorough investigation into the event and punish those responsible to the fullest extent of the law.
Kazie Uko, Chief Press Secretary of Otti, issued a press release in which he said that, according to initial reports from the state police command, one of the officers involved is already in custody and will be subject to the Force’s disciplinary procedures and, if found guilty, to legal charges.

The governor of Abia offered consolation to the victim’s family and praised the Abiriba and Aba communities for listening to the call not to seize the legislation by force.
The governor swore that there would be no cover-up in this situation, assuring the family and the Abiriba and Aba communities on behalf of the state government.
