The Most Reverend David Onuoha, the Anglican Archbishop of Owerri Province, has received congratulations from President Muhammadu Buhari.
The cleric has been elected as the Christian Council of Nigeria’s new president.
The CCN is one of the five blocs that make up the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
Onuoha was elected during the 31st General Assembly/93rd CCN Anniversary at Andrew’s Basilica Trans Ekulu, Enugu.
Buhari said the victory affirms the Archbishop’s spiritual fervour, sound theological training and passion for ecumenical unity in Nigeria.
In a statement by spokesman Femi Adesina, he recalled their last interaction during his visit to Imo in September 2021.
The President commended Onuoha’s “unfailing devotion” to the country’s unity and prosperity, as well as his counsel for those in authority.
Buhari wished the convener of the annual ‘Imo Prays’ success as he leads the CCN for the next three years.
